This Is The Banana Stand
Stop bleeding cash. The Banana Stand is the manual for creators who are tired of being broke celebrities. I teach the messy systems you need to survive.
‘No work is worse than overwork;
the mind preys on itself,
the most unwholesome of food.’
Charles Lamb
Remember the sitcom ‘Arrested Development?’
George Michael Bluth was scripted in as a 15 year old inexperienced hormone-addled sophomore, yet his father named him ‘Mr Manager’ of the Bluth Banana Stand.
His job was to manage the only cash producing asset that dysfunctional family owned.
Unfortunately, young George was clueless. Makes for great TV but in real life, not fun.
Don’t be like George
Subscribe to this newsletter, The Banana Stand, instead.
So you can be an online maven like the cartoon guy in the hero image. Relax in a hammock, knock back a snack, catch some rays, and leave the stress behind.
There’s already enough stress in the world, right? Don’t let your dream die because ‘it’s all too hard.’
It’s not hard when it’s set up right. I want to show you how.
Got you covered
I started The Banana Stand to help creators set up, operate and grow like a proper business, one that provides a financial return that’s in line with the effort they put in.
Even if it’s a part time gig. Or a side interest. Or a multi-million-dollar main street shopfront.
I get that not every creator wants a financial return. Their onlien presence could be a hobby they do for fun. Or it could be writing practice, or a special-interest topic, or a pseudonymous way to promote a perspective that may be at odds with their public persona.
If this is you, I’ve got you covered too.
What you won’t find here
Regurgitated content that makes stupid promises:
Make money in your underpants
Business in a box
Passive income while you sit on a beach
Millionaire in 6 months
Write your way to financial freedom
Lamborghinis.
Nope. None of that stuff.
Whatever the business model, opportunity, or goal you choose - that’s your call.
Here on The Banana Stand, you get simple proven tactics, advice and suggestions to get you set up right. The core idea is to have simple systems in place that keep your creator life separate from your personal life.
Not everything I write will suit you. So pick out what resonates, adapt to your situation, and apply to your creator business. Then ignore all the rest.
Oh no! Systems?
Once they’re in place, they pretty much run themselves. Not only do you get to extract a certain percentage of revenue as profit (yay!), you get to smooth out cash flow, eliminate processing errors, get bills paid on time, and keep the tax office out of your face.
I’ve worked with dozens of organisations over the last 20 years
Some big names you would recognise. Others, not so big.
Nearly all make similar business mistakes. Not out of vindictiveness, or even laziness. They just haven’t been shown how.
What I’ve learned applies 100% to other businesses and solopreneurs like you.
That’s what The Banana Stand is for - to filter out and adapt these lessons for any business that depends on an online presence.
Back to George Michael
If young George has read TBS, Arrested Development Season 2 would’ve flopped.

Looking forward to your wisdom.
